Summer is out and school is in but our summer trip to Agutayan White Island in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental don't seemed like a mOnth old for me now. How
could I forget an island that's so calm and beautiful without spending big amount of money and traveling for many hours? Yes...It was just last May when we knew that there's a white island that is just a home away from home. When I heard about it, I made a searched through the internet and when I saw some pictures of the island, they just really amazed me.
We don't usually get the chance to experience beaches with white sand here in Cagayan de Oro City(CDO). You still have to travel for long hours like going to Medina or in Camiguin. In Agutayan White Island, it will only take you not more than an hour to Liyang Beach, Jasaa
n from Bugo, CDO(where I resided) and it will cost you not more than P20.00 when taking a PUJ. When you're finally at Liyang Beach, you will see small boats that will ferry you to the island for P800-P1,000 to-and-fro but be sure the weather cooperates with you. Since it's really a small island, definitely no cottages, no trees, or anything in there that would shelter you from the heat of the sun. So never forget to bring with you your tent or any big blanket/cloth and some straw strings so you can make your own mini-tent instead.
As you can see in the photo, there's only a house that stands near the island. It was intentionally built to shelter the watchmen
or the "bantay-dagat" of the marine sanctuary of Agutayan. So you need not to worry coz you're not totally alone in place. And oh...Before I forget, don't also miss to carry with you your sunblock or be ready to get burned up bacause the beauty of the island is mesmerizing enough that you just can't say no once you get there!
